Composite reinforcing mesh is a reinforcing cloth ready for laying made of fiberglass rods fastened into a regular cellular structure. Unlike a separate composite rod, which has to be knitted into a frame at the facility, the SSC reinforcement grid is rolled out or stacked with maps immediately, saving installation time. This makes it a direct replacement for metal welded mesh and "chipper" where corrosion resistance is important: in screeds, floors, blind area, walkways and roadway.

What is a SSC armour grid?

SSC — glass composite mesh. It is recruited from longitudinal and transverse rods with a diameter of 2 or 3 mm, forming a square cell. The web retains flexibility: brands based on Ø2 mm rod are rolled up, which is convenient for transportation and storage, and more rigid versions are supplied by cards (sheets). The material is easily cut with metal scissors or grinder directly on the site. Important difference from steel: composite can not be boiled — the fragments are connected overlapping with the bandage, not by welding.

Key Features

  • Does not rust or corrode — serves in wet screeds, blind area and aggressive soils without loss of cross-section.
  • Dielectric — does not conduct electric current, is safe near power lines and in rooms with electrical equipment.
  • Easy — significantly lighter than metal welded mesh, easier to carry and lay by one worker.
  • Without cold bridges — low thermal conductivity of the composite does not create thermal bridges in the structure.
  • High tear-pro strength and resistance to the alkaline environment of concrete, durability for the entire service life of the structure.
  • Flexibility and compactness — Roll delivery reduces logistics and storage costs.

Marks, cells and diameter of the bar

The SSC reinforcement grid model range is built around different rod diameters (Ø2-6 mm) and three cell sizes. The grade is selected for the load and thickness of the concrete layer: the higher the load and the thicker the screed, the larger the bar and the denser the working reinforcement.

The exact cell size and diameter for your project are specified when ordering. The full range of composite mesh is assembled in catalogue of ETHYZ grids.

Rolls and Cards Formats

SSC reinforcement grid is supplied in convenient standard formats — from narrow rolls for local work to wide maps for large areas. This allows you to choose a cutting with a minimum amount of waste.

  • Rolls: 0.5×2 m, 0.5×15 m, 1×2 m, 1×15 m, 2×30 m, 1.35×50 m and others.
  • Cards (sheets) — for rigid brands SSK-5 and SSK-6, where a flat, indefinable surface is needed.
  • The color is black or green, it does not affect the bearing capacity.

Where composite reinforcement mesh is used

The web distributes the load over the area and keeps the concrete from cracking. Due to the corrosion resistance, the composite mesh especially benefits where the steel mesh quickly rusts — in contact with moisture and soil.

  • Screeds and self-leveling floors — reinforcement of the upper layer, protection against shrinkage cracks.
  • Blind area and garden paths — work in variable humidity without corrosion.
  • Concrete pads and parking — distribution of point and wheel loads.
  • Roadbed — reinforcement of slabs and bases with a coarse cell of 200×200 mm.
  • Underfloor heating — the dielectric cloth is safe next to the heating cable.

Composite mesh instead of metal mesh

Steel welded mesh rusts over time: corrosion products expand, break off the protective layer of concrete and reduce the life of the structure. The SSK composite reinforcement grid is devoid of this drawback — it does not conduct current, does not create cold bridges and weighs less, so it is easier to carry and mount. Replacement is carried out qualitatively, according to the design selection of the brand and cell; specific design coefficients are determined by the design documentation. Material in accordance to GOST 31938-2012 for composite polymer reinforcement and mesh.

Briefly about installation

  • Open the canvas with scissors on metal or grinder to the desired size.
  • Lay on the retainers (chairs), providing a protective layer of concrete from below.
  • Join the cards and rolls overlapping with the bandage — welding is unacceptable.
  • Pour concrete without shifting the web; for large areas, use SSK-5/SSK-6 cards.

The price of reinforcing composite mesh depends on the brand, cell and volume — the cost is available on request. You can choose a format and submit an application in composite mesh section on the website of the ETIZ plant.

FAQs

How does reinforcing composite mesh differ from metal mesh?

SSK composite reinforcement mesh is made of fiberglass rods, so it does not rust or corrode in wet screeds and soil, is dielectric and does not create cold bridges. It is noticeably lighter than steel welded mesh, which simplifies transportation and stacking. The main difference is in the installation: the composite is cut with scissors or a grinder, but it is not cooked — the fragments are connected overlapping with the bandage.

Which SSC cell and brand to choose for screed and for the road?

SSK-2 with a rod Ø2 mm and a cell of 50×50 or 100×100 mm in rolls is suitable for thin screeds and underfloor heating. SSK-3 is taken for floors, paths and blind areas. For concrete platforms and industrial floors, SSK-5 is used, and for the roadway and heavily loaded slabs, SSK-6 with a large cell of 200×200 mm is used. The exact grade is selected according to the load and thickness of concrete.

In what form is the SSC reinforcement grid supplied?

The mesh is available in rolls and cards in black or green. Flexible grades on a Ø2 mm bar are rolled up — this is convenient for transportation, storage and cutting on site. Rigid versions of SSK-5 and SSK-6 are supplied by cards. Typical formats: 0.5×2, 0.5×15, 1×2, 1×15, 2×30, 1.35×50 m and others; the specific cutting is specified when ordering.

Does the composite mesh comply with GOST?

Yes, ETIZ reinforcing composite mesh complies with GOST 31938-2012, which applies to composite polymer reinforcement and mesh. This confirms the suitability of the material for reinforcing concrete structures. The specific design parameters and the selection of the brand for your object are determined by the project documentation, and the characteristics of each item are indicated in the accompanying documents for the batch.

Is it possible to cut and cook composite mesh?

You can cut a composite reinforced mesh directly on the site — with scissors for metal for a Ø2 mm bar or with a grinder for more rigid grades. But it is impossible to cook the composite: it is not a metal, the welded joint is not applicable to it. The cards and rolls overlap with the dressing, providing overlap in the joint area so that the reinforcement works as a single web.

How much does a reinforcing composite mesh cost?

The cost depends on the brand (SSK-2, SSK-3, SSK-5, SSK-6), the diameter of the rod, the size of the cell, the format of the roll or map and the volume of the batch. Therefore, the price is calculated individually and is available on request. Leave a request in the grid catalog on the ETIZ website or contact the sales department — the manager will select the desired standard size and calculate the delivery for your project.
