What is Foam Glass? What does the term mean?
Foam glass is a new category of thermal insulation materials. ETIZ Foam Glass, like traditional foam glass, shares a similar raw material base, but the manufacturing technology and, consequently, a number of properties differ. Thanks to our unique development, we have not only preserved all the best qualities of foam glass but also achieved new properties: ETIZ Foam Glass has an open-pore structure for vapor permeability, allowing structures to "breathe"; an independent sound insulation coefficient of +27 dB, and sound absorption of class "A" (the highest). All of this is very important for comfortable living, health, and safety. Moreover, ETIZ Foam Glass is significantly cheaper than other foam glass products available on the Russian market.
Is ETIZ Foam Glass a non-combustible material?
ETIZ Foam Glass is completely non-combustible (NG group). It withstands open flame without changes in geometry, volume, or deformation. Under high temperatures, it does not emit harmful gases (mass loss equals zero). Melting point is 1,350°C. Upper operating temperature limit is 750  °C. Thanks to this fire resistance, the material can locally contain fire.
Fire resistance of ETIZ Foam Glass is 90 min (180 kg/m³ board).
How effective is ETIZ Foam Glass as insulation?
The effectiveness of thermal insulation is characterized by the thermal conductivity coefficient. Material thickness is calculated based on its value. ETIZ thermal conductivity coefficients are among the best in their class (0.045–0.050 W/m·K). In terms of thermal insulation properties, a 10 cm thick ETIZ board is comparable to a 108 cm thick brick wall. ETIZ Foam Glass reliably retains heat in winter and coolness in summer.
Is ETIZ Foam Glass safe? Can it be used indoors (in walls, floors)?
What is the service life of ETIZ Foam Glass?
ETIZ Foam Glass is a durable material since it is homogeneous and does not contain artificial organic substances that degrade and are subject to "aging" over time. The chemical composition of foam glass ensures its service life without loss of properties and dimensions. All characteristics of ETIZ Foam Glass are confirmed by corresponding tests. Among other parameters, the material  has high frost resistance: the number of life cycles without crack formation and swelling, according to studies, is at least 100 years.
Will ETIZ Foam Glass protect from street noise and neighbor noise?
Yes,  ETIZ Foam Glass provides not only thermal and fire protection but also excellent sound insulation, with an independent sound insulation coefficient of +27 dB.  Additionally, ETIZ Foam Glass has the highest acoustic sound absorption characteristics — class "A".
If an ETIZ Foam Glass board has cracked — can it be glued?
It all depends on the nature of the crack.  If installation was performed correctly in compliance with all building standards, this should not happen in principle.  Only if physical force was applied to the material. A joint gap of 3–6 mm can be glued with standard cement-based adhesive. For a gap of 1–2 mm, flexible polymer adhesive is used.
Is ETIZ Foam Glass soluble in water? What is its water absorption?
ETIZ Foam Glass is a water-insoluble material.
If the dew point reaches the junction between the wall and any vapor-impermeable insulation, moisture can accumulate there, which will subsequently lead to mold and mildew formation. ETIZ Foam Glass breathes, so even if moisture forms at the junction, it evaporates without changing the foam glass properties. ETIZ water absorption is 205%.
How does ETIZ Foam Glass differ from mineral wool?
ETIZ Foam Glass:
■ 100% mineral material that does not contain phenol-polymer binders.
■ Easy to install (including easy to saw and plaster), does not release prickly small particles. Compatible with any cement-based mortars.
■ Chemically and physically homogeneous throughout its entire volume.
■ Has precise and stable geometric dimensions throughout its entire service life (without sagging or settling). Thanks to tight board fit during installation, heat loss through "cold bridges" can be reduced to zero.
■ Resistant to rodents and insects, mold formation.
■ In case of accidental wetting, thanks to the open porous structure, it dries completely without loss of properties and dimensions.
■ Does not require additional maintenance during its service life, as the material does not degrade over time.
■ Based on the combination of physical, mechanical, and chemical properties, ETIZ material can be defined as more durable.

P.S. In pursuit of low densities, mineral wool manufacturers lose "strength," thereby significantly reducing its service life.
How does ETIZ Foam Glass differ from expanded polystyrene?
■ ETIZ Foam Glass is produced from sodium silicate (liquid glass), which makes it non-combustible and, most importantly, it does not emit harmful substances under high temperatures. Foamed plastics, polystyrenes are organic materials and release a number of toxic gases when burning.
■ ETIZ Foam Glass is an environmentally friendly material.
■ ETIZ Foam Glass has good vapor permeability properties, unlike polystyrene, especially extruded polystyrene. Using a vapor-impermeable material in your home, you "seal" the air, which negatively affects the indoor climate and requires additional building ventilation. Moisture must escape from the structure, otherwise an environment for mold and mildew development forms, and living conditions become uncomfortable.
■ ETIZ Foam Glass is more durable since it consists only of natural mineral components, while materials containing artificial organic substances serve less due to the degradation of organic constituents. As a result — loss of shape and properties.
■ Mice (insects) do not gnaw on ETIZ Foam Glass and do not make passages or burrows in it.
